J.W. Rice Jr., 89, died July 14, 2016, at Golden Living Center in New Madrid. Born July 20, 1926, in New Madrid County, son of the J.W. and Neelia Wren Rice Sr., he was a member of the Riverbend Pentecostal Church in New Madrid and was a World War II veteran. On June 4, 1946 he married Beatrice Wilson, who preceded him in death on June 15, 1996. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Rice; and one son, Robert Rice. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Janet Rice and Jonathan and Tina Rice of East Prairie; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Rice of Sikeston; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Riverbend Pentecostal Church in New Madrid with G.L. Keene officiating.
Burial will follow at Mounds Park Cemetery.
