Anna "Kathy" Kathryn (Boyer) Barnwell

Anna Kathryn “Kathy” Barnwell, 67, passed away April 14, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in New Madrid.
Born April 19, 1948, to J.R. and Hattie Spradling Boyer of Kewanee, Kathy was a 1966 graduate of New Madrid High School and a 1970 and 1973 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University where she was a proud member of Alpha Xi Delta. She began her 28-year teaching career in 1971, with many of those years being spent as a teacher in the New Madrid School District.
On Dec. 27, 1975, she married Ralph Barnwell Jr., who survives of the home.
Kathy was an avid reader and served on the board of the New Madrid County Public Library for a number of years. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, doing brain games and listening to all types of music, especially hits from the 1960s.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Jamie Barnwell of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Susan (Joe) Steimle of Murphysboro, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Anna (David) Pounds of New Madrid; four nieces, Carrie (Matt) Romines of Jonesboro, Ark., Elizabeth (Wesley) Hodges of Bertrand, Kristi (Jordan) Tatum of Sikeston and Madeline Steimle of Murphysboro; as well as two great-nieces, Lillian Romines and Emily Katherine Hodges and a great-nephew, Colten Romines.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Rev. Eric Mattson will officiate.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Williams, James Lynn Brotherton, Matt Romines, Wesley Hodges, Mark Hendricks and T.J. Sides.
