Shane Tanner Obituary

Shane Mickel Tanner, 18, of Omaha, Arkansas passed away September 27, 2022 at his home. Shane was born in Springfield, MO on February 15, 2004. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Tanner and older brother, Travis Thompson of Omaha, AR (with whom he resided); older brother, Tyler Thompson of Springfield, MO; older sister, Kayla Chrisman and her husband, John Chrisman, and their two sons, Anthony and Kyler Chrisman of Omaha, AR; grandparents Garion and Barbara Tanner of Catron, MO. Shane was a recent Omaha High School graduate of the Class of 2022. He was in his first semester at Ozarks Technical Community College in Hollister, MO. Shane loved listening to music, especially by his favorite band CHVRCHES. Shane had hoped to someday move to Scotland, and wore a kilt often. He enjoyed playing video games, and watching his favorite tv shows. He loved having deep conversations with his family and friends, and making people laugh. He was the class clown. He loved animals, and he loved babysitting his nephew, Kyler, and teaching him songs from his favorite band CHVRCHES. He had gotten to see them live twice and said those were the best two days of his life. Shane was a very kind, and opinionated young man. He was very concerned about equal rights for every single human being on the planet. He cared deeply and authentically about civil rights, and believed that it was necessary for our country to have access to free healthcare and free college education for everyone. He was a firm believer of women's rights, cared deeply for the environment and was a vegan, he was against political corruption, supported everyones sexual orientation and gender, he was against injustice and oppression in every form. Shane was kind and considerate to everyone he met, he always held the door open for others and said please and thank you. He made sure to tell everyone he spoke with to have a great day. He was always doing and saying things to make the people around him laugh, and enjoyed being the light for others. He consistently wore a mask in public to ensure that he kept others safe from Covid. Shane suffered from anxiety and depression, the most common forms of mental illness. He had an extremely hard time when his school shut down due to Covid and had to do virtual schooling. The social isolation was very hard on him. He was a very empathic person, and the injustice he saw across our country on the news was too much for him. Shane was entirely too good and pure for this world. He truly cared too deeply about everyone in the world and as much as he tried to be the change he wanted to see, the world just wasn’t changing. Shane was so incredibly loved, and his family takes comfort in the fact that we know that he knew that. His family believes that he is now healed, whole, at peace, and safe in the arms of God. In lieu of flowers, Shane’s family asks that you be kind to one another. ***Gun suicide claims the lives of nearly 24,000 people in America every year.
