Ricky Gene Haney, Jr.

Ricky Gene Haney, Jr. affectionately called Lil’ Rick, was born July 9, 1991 in Sikeston, Missouri to Ricky Gene Haney, Sr. and Chilita Marie Nelson. At the tender age of 31, Lil Rick answered the call of the Almighty God and departed his life on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. 

He attended elementary and middle schools in St. Louis, Missouri and Cape Girardeau before relocating with his mother and siblings to Marietta, Georgia. 

Ricky enjoyed listening to music, watching sports (especially the L.A. Lakers), and eating anything his mother cooked. He deeply loved his brothers and sisters and they, along with his friends, called him “Goonie”. Lil’ Rick had an overwhelming love for his nieces and nephews. In fact, if you told him to be home by a certain time to babysit, he was dependable and would promptly be at the house in time to take care of those babies. Lil Rick worked off and on in the food services industry. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Joyce Ann “Punkin” Nelson, paternal grandmother Josephine Haney, paternal grandfather Clifton Haney, and several aunts and uncles. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: Mother, Chilita Nelson of Atlanta, GA; Father Ricky Haney, Sr. of Cape Girardeau, MO; siblings Ferriss Nelson (Dara) of St. Louis, MO; Tyric (Heavenly) Haney of Marietta, GA; Shabraia Haney of Atlanta, GA; Jadarius (Moshea) Haney of Marietta, GA; Ayanna Haney and O’Cares Haney of Cape Girardeau; paternal grandfather Bernard Patterson of New Madrid, MO; maternal great grandmother Littie Nelson of St. Louis, MO; and a complete family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
