Mollie Rucker was born January 1, 1932 in Coldwater, MS to Willie Dean Newsom and Irene Lyon. Mollie transitioned from her life on this earth on February 1, 2026 in Middleburg, FL at the age of 94 years old. She married Sam Rucker in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1989.
Mollie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Olive M.B. Church. She served on the kitchen committee and sang in the choir. She worked for NJ and Shirley Nowell for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters: Bernice Biggs and Linda Rucker; one son: Willie Earl Rucker; 4 brothers: Jimmy Newsom, A.G. Newsom, Jessie Newsom, and Robert Newsom; 5 sisters: Hattie Newsom Prather, Lovie Newsom Key, Lyla Newsom Sanders, Maybell Cook and Rosie Newsom Simmons; 1 great grandson: Samuel Rucker.
She leaves to cherish her memories: 3 daughters: Sandra Rucker, Dorothy (John Jr) Kellum of Middleburg, FL and Debra (Maurice) Wallace of Holly Spring, MS; 4 sons: Sam Rucker, Jr (Willie Mae) of Fort Wayne, IN; Richard Lee Rucker (Tiffany) of Columbus, OH; Larney Kerry Rucker (Tawna) of Spokane, WA; Derrick Darnell Rucker (Rachel) of Kokomo, IN; 1 daughter-in-law: Lizzie Mae Rucker of Memphis, TN and 1 son-in-law: Robert Bibbs of Fort Wayne, IN. She raised 2 grandchildren: Nikki (Nicole) Rucker of Jacksonville, FL and Curtis Rucker of Fort Wayne, IN. 29 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Special friends Richard Powell, Gertrude Grandberry, June Green and Chris Henry.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Rucker, William Rucker, Winfield Mitchell, Derrick Rucker, Sam Rucker, Jr. and Richard Rucker
Honorary pallbearers will be John Kellum III, Nicholas Kellum, Curtis Rucker, Bryson Rucker, John Kellum Jr. and Corey Johnson
Visitation will be 12 to 1pm on Saturday February 21, 2026 at the New Madrid Baptist Church with Funeral at 1pm with burial following in Simmons Cemetery in Catron, MO.
