Mirdie B. Gipson (LaLa) was born January 28, 1928, in New Madrid, MO, to the union of Willie B. and Ophelia Hamilton, who preceded her in death. Robert, Depriest, Charles, Willie B. Jr., J.W, Lula Mae, and Juanita. She was the oldest of 9 brothers and sisters, all but 1 preceded her in death.

Early in her life she was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Lilbourn, MO.

At the age of 19, she married Rodgers Richardson. To that union 1 child was born, Jessie M. Robinson.

Mirdie (LaLa) eventually migrated to Chicago where she spent most of her life working until she retired and moved back to New Madrid, MO, where she resided until September 2019. She then returned to Chicago (Maywood). Mirdie B. (LaLa) departed this life on March 3, 2021, due to declining health issues. Mirdie, my mom (LaLa) was a “Tuff” lady and that’s “Tuff” with a capital “T.” She even defeated the COVID-19, virus at 92 years of age. I love her dearly; she will be greatly missed.

She leaves the memories of a lifetime to: her daughter, Jessie M. Robinson; baby sister, Willa Newson (Tommy); grandson, Donnell Robinson (Beverly); granddaughter, Kim Yvette Washington (Rodney); one great grandson, Sherman Don Robinson III (Nathalie); niece, Vernita Hamilton, who was very special because she was a caregiver for LaLa for many yeors and she went above and beyond her call to duty, making her valuable and special; and of course, she has a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and also other family and friends.
