Larry Edward St. Mary, 81 of Powell, Ohio passed away at his home on August 2, 2024. Larry was born March 12,1943 to Clara Mitchell St. Mary and Richard Luke St. Mary Sr. He was raised in New Madrid and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and then graduated from New Madrid High School. Larry was a varsity athlete in all sports the school had, but really excelled in basketball. Over the years, he stayed connected with his former teammates, Leland "Brother" Phillips (lifelong best friend), Billy Foster and many others along with Coach Carroll Compton.
He married the Love of his Life, Sherry Lynn Nolan on July 31, 1961, and started his family shortly afterwards in 1962, having three sons. He was a devout husband, extraordinary father, and Christian man! Larry coached all his boys, and many more New Madrid youth in Little League, Jr. Babe Ruth, and the Immaculate Conception School basketball league. He was a great role model. He also managed to find time for the Jaycees and was a member of the New Madrid Country Club. Here is where he developed a lifelong love of golf. He played many "twilight golf events" with Sherry and taught all his sons the game that he loved so much. He played his last round on June 8,2024 with his son, Todd.
In 1979, work took Larry and his family south to Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he started a career with Bechtel Construction and Project Management in the Power Division, which spanned 29 plus years. Larry literally traveled the world with Bechtel.
Larry immensely enjoyed his retirement since 2006, always saying, "Every day is Saturday." Part of that time was volunteering for the Jack Nicklaus Memorial Golf Tournament in Dublin, OH for the past 23 years and was honored for his time spent volunteering for the Memorial Golf Tournament with a nomination to the Legacy Committee, chaired by Jack Nicklaus.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sherry, his high school sweetheart of 63 years. His three sons include Kevin Blaine St. Mary (Catherine) of Yorktown, VA., Todd Edward St. Mary (Theresa) of Pass Christian, MS, and Jeffrey Michael St. Mary (Kathy Ann) of Hattiesburg, MS. Grandchildren include Lauren Broughman, Hilary Dunbar, Hannah St. Mary, Whitney Stevens, Alden St. Mary, Carter St. Mary, Cierra Tamez, Chelsea St. Mary. Step-grandchildren are Kristen and Brendan Pierce. Larry also had two great-grandchildren, Elijah Dunbar and Matthew Stevens, with two more on the way.
He is also survived by his sister, Norma Jean Blankenship of Flat River, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers Richard Luke "Dick" St. Mary of New Madrid and Herbert Lee St. Mary of Sikeston.
Larry will be sorely missed by his family that he loved beyond limits and the many strong friendships he had made in his lifetime. He was always ready to tell them a story about his Mayberry life growing up in his beloved town of New Madrid, Missouri.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair
Perhaps you sent a funeral spray, If so we saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, that any friend could possibly say
Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console our broken hearts, We thank you so very much, whatever the part.
Sherry
