Obituary

Kateeka Latwan Hill 's story began with her birth on January 21, 1979, to Ronnie & Lyndora (Hill) Hughes. Kateeka (aka Teeka) attended early schooling in El Paso, Texas. She later relocated to Cape Girardeau and graduated from Central High School. On the job, Teeka was known for her generous and giving nature. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. |

Teeka professed a hope in Christ at a very young age. God was always her” number one friend”, Life took on new meaning for Teeka when she became a proud mother. Her two sons, Michael and Ethan Ward, became and remained the light of her life. She gave them names of achievers because she wanted them to stand tall ) and be the greatest. Tecka’s boys gave her the incentive to keep going, despite challenges and disappointments. Until the end, her joy was based on the goal of sharing time with family and being there to share special life experiences and events with her sons. In all situations, Kateeka was devoted to loving and treasuring her sons dearly. They were the apple of her eye!

Teeka Was a “daddy's girl’ although she loved both of her parents fiercely. She relied on the guidance and support of her loving parents, Ronnie & Lyndora Hughes, through the toughest challenges. They were proud of every accomplishment and there for every challenge. With _ optimism, vigilance, and strength, her parents remained in her corner and by her side.

Tecka Was a great big sister to "Little Ronnie”, Ronnie Hughes, Jr, They had a close bond as brother and sister, They spent countless hours talking. Teeka had the respect that only a good big sister could expect from Little Ronnie. Though he may not have always agreed, he would definitely listen to what she said with acceptance. Little Ronnie was glad to be his big sister's dependable chauffeur. He'd gladly take Teeka wherever she wanted or needed him to take her.

Tecka had a very special fondness for her aunt. Rose Marie Spicer, affectionately called Aunt Re. Over the years, she spent time and looked up to Aunt Re. Aunt Re was equally fond of Teeka. She always wanted to see Teeka happy. Tecka could count on Aunt Re to get whatever her appetite called or suited her palate. Teeka also shared a special bond with her cousin, Lisa Hill. Lisa was so many things to Teeka that the name cousin won't cover her role in Teeka's life. She was a friend. a big sister and , when necessary, a little mom.

On the early morning of June 20, 2023, Kateeka was given rest. Although her smile, her sense of humor, giving spirit, and sense of style will be missed, she will continue to live on in our hearts and minds. Teeka taught us courage by the way she confronted obstacles and adversities. Teeka showed us how to fight. She fought the fine fight. She ran with endurance.

Teeka taught each of us the value of strength, resiliency, and tenacity. Teeka taught us to be authentic. She was her own woman, with her own mind, and could express her thoughts very well without reservation. Teeka taught us love. She was very kind and passionate. Teeka taught us faith. She never wavered in the importance of a relationship with God and friendship with Christ. Kateeka was preceded in death by her grandparents; Oscar & Dorothy Hughes (paternal), and Eugene & Rosie Hill (maternal).
