John Walter (Johnny) Jones was born on November 6, 1936 in Taylor, Mississippi to Leona and Edmon Jones Sr. He was united in marriage to Bracy Pride on September 29, 1963. Bracy preceded him in death in 1986.
Johnny was also preceded in death by two sons, John Walter Jones Jr (Tiny) and Tony Allen Jones, as well as one brother, Edmon “Bo” Jones and one sister Martha Meekie.
He was employed by Greeenmore Lime and Fertilizer until his retirement. Johnny was a hardworking man who loved to keep busy. He especially enjoyed working on cars, barbecuing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers, Billy Allen Terry of Jackson,MS and Jesse Jones of Chicago, IL; four sisters, Bernice Pride of Sikeston, MO; Julia Peoples of Gary, IN; Mary Meekie of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Williemae “Peaches” Meekie of Kalamazoo, Michigan; five grandchildren (Karimah, MaKiea, Tanisha, John and Anthony); fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Johnnys legacy of love, laughter and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
