John Walter "Johnny" Jones

John Walter “Johnny” Jones was born on November 6, 1936, in Taylor, Mississippi, to Leonia and Edmon Jones Sr. He was united in marriage to Bracey Pride on September 29, 1963. Bracey preceded him in death in 1986.

Johnny was also preceded in death by two sons, John Walter Jones Jr. (Tiny) and Tony Allen Jones, as well as one brother, Edmon “Bo” Jones.

He was employed by Greenmore Lime and Fertilizer until his retirement. Johnny was a hardworking man who loved to keep busy. He especially enjoyed working on cars, barbecuing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Johnny leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, Billy Allen Terry of Jackson, MS and Jesse Jones of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Bernice Pride of Sikeston, MO and Julia Peoples of Gary, IN; five grandchildren (Karimah, John, Anthony, Tonisha, and MaKie); fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Johnny’s legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
