John Henry, Jr. Obituary

John Dee Henry Jr. passed away on December 6, 2020 in Cape Girardeau, MO at the age of 77.

John D, as he was most known as, was born in the Higgerson Landing Community in New Madrid, MO to Almeida (Porter) Henry and John D. Henry Sr. on January 9, 1943. On January 12", 1963 he was united in marriage to Carol (Jackson) Henry who survives of the home.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John D. Henry Sr. and Almeida (Porter) Henry. Also, one brother David “Crockett” Henry.

Left to cherish his memory are daughters; Deanna (Richard) Ford of Louisiana, Stacey (Shannon) Stanley of New Madrid and Amanda (G.L.) Keene of New Madrid. One son, John D. “Little Johnny” (Tara) Henry III of New Madrid.

7 siblings; Robert (Sharon) Henry, Mary Alice “Mrs. Alice” Higgerson, William Henry all of New Madrid. Richard (Virginia) Henry of Lilbourn, Glinda Higgerson and Virginia Ann Higgerson of Michigan and Linda Williams of Collierville, TN.

12 grandchildren; Richie Ford and Rachel (James) Harper of Louisiana, Meredith (Richard) Edwards of Marston, Tripp (Sophia) Keene, Garrison Keene, Carlee Keene, John Michael Stanley, John D. “JD” Henry IV, Joseph Henry, Jack Henry, Trea Cade, and Remi Cade all of New Madrid.

3 great-grandchildren; Aiden Harper and Gray Harper of Louisiana, and Lottie Keene of New Madrid.

He also leaves behind his “soul daughter” Tamra McClellan of New Madrid.

John D. farmed almost all of his life until 1986 then he opened Bootheel Plumbing and served our community until he retired in 2015. He was a proud member of the Riverbend Pentecostals in New Madrid, MO. He loved to spend time at his cabin at the “Marston Hole”, make frequent trips to the hardware store, and sit on the porch with his wife Carol and wave to everyone in New Madrid. He was the “life of the party” and loved to make jokes even if he was the only one who laughed at them. He loved many and was loved by many.

Visitation will be at the Riverbend Pentecostals on Wednesday December 9, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for family. Funeral services will be on Thursday December 10" at 1:00 p.m. also at the Riverbend Pentecostals. Pallbearers will be all 7 of his grandsons. Officiating will be G.L. Keene Jr. and Richard Ford. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Higgerson school or Riverbend pentecostal church.
