James Andrew Darter

James Andrew Darter passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024 at the age of 45.

James  was born February 07, 1979 in St Louis, Mo to James and Melinda Darter of New Madrid, MO who survive

He is also survived by five sisters, Teresia Shrum of Advance, Mo, Brittany Darter and Kathy Northcutt of New Madrid, Mo, Breanna Darter of Sikeston, Mo and Mollie Holt of Chester, IL and five brothers, Collin Beachum of New Hill, NC, Kenny Darter of New Madrid, MO, Nick Darter of Malden, MO, Joshua Darter of Pacific, MO, and Mike Darter of Sikeston, MO.

He has ten nieces, four nephews, and many special friends

He had one special needs brother and six special needs sisters who proceeded him through the gates of heaven to welcome him into glory.  They were Joshua Darter, Jamie Darter, Elizabeth Darter, Sara Darter, Lori Darter, Bethany Darter and Mary Darter.

He also leaves behind many, many friends and other family members who will miss him dearly.

Some of his fondest memories were during the time he spent going to New Dawn State School in Sikeston, MO.  Him and some of his best friends, Kenny Ellis always talked about their past experiences of friends, teachers, and other staff members, good and bad, during their visits together.

He also invited everyone he met to go camping with him and also join us at dinner time, he never met a stranger. He was the life of the party wherever he was.

We are so proud of the staff members at New Dawn State School, because they didn’t see the crippling outward deforming shield of their Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Asthma, Epilepsy, Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Behaviorial/Emotional Bi-Polar and sensory impaired, blind and deaf frames, but saw and nourished the loving, kind and friendly great person trapped inside their uninvited disabilities.

God Bless all who see people who they really are and not their outward appearance.

Visitation will be Tuesday 7/02/2024 from 5pm to 7pm at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, MO and Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 03, 2024 at 11am at Immaculate Conception Church in New Madrid, MO.
