Glinda Higgerson passed away peacefully at her residence on November 12, 2025, in Swartz Creek, MI at the age of 87, surrounded by her family.
Glinda was born March 1, 1938, to John D and Almeida (Porter) Henry. She married Harold Higgerson Jr on February 8, 1958 in Flint, MI. They were blessed with 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Glinda had many interests and hobbies. She was a homemaker who loved cooking, knitting, sewing, Crocheting and baking treats for her family and the neighborhood kids. In her younger years, she was an avid and very competitive bowler. She loved gardening and tending to her many flowers. Glinda spent countless hours with her twin sister, Linda, playing detective and trying to solve the mystery of the day. She never met a stranger. She enjoyed bargain hunting and adding to her many collections. Mostly, she enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood to anyone who would listen. Over the years Glinda had many pets, most recently, her beloved JoJo, who kept her company after her husband’s passing.
She is survived by her 4 children, Harold III (Jill) Higgerson, Cynthia (Don) Gairhan, Thomas (Sally) Higgerson and Michelle (Joseph) Wamsley; 11 grandchildren, Andrew (Trish), Brandon, Victoria, Matt (Kristen), Steve, Stephanie (Steve), Rachel (Mark), Caitlyn, Jaclyn (Nick), Jillian, John; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Alice Higgerson, William Henry, her twin sister Linda Williams, Virginia Higgerson, Richard (Virginia) Henry, Robert (Sharon) Henry and sister in law Carol Henry.
Proceeding her in death, husband Harold Higgerson Jr., parents John D. Henry Sr. and Almeida Porter Henry, brothers John D. Henry Jr. and David “Crockett” Henry.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Higgerson School Historic Site, New Madrid, MO.
Visitation will be held Monday Nov. 17, 2025 from 11am to 1pm at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, MO. Funeral Service will follow at 1pm at Richards Funeral Home and burial at Evergreen Cemetery, New Madrid, MO.
