Obituary

Garion Mickel Tanner was called away to his heavenly home on December 18, 2022, at 6:18 a.m., in Sikeston, Missouri at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born May 15, 1945, in New Madrid, to the late Simon A. and Nellie Rachael (Price) Tanner. On February 22, 1958, he was married to Barbara Jean Adkins, who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by, children, Kathy (Tim,) Sills of Sikeston, Sandra Tanner of Omaha, AR, Darion (Angela) Tanner of Clarkton, grandchildren, Joshua, Hali, Kayla, Tyler, Travis, Brandon and Taylor, great-grandchildren, Raphael Sobral and Julia Piestsch, brothers,  Doyle and Mary Tanner of Temple, GA and Jackie and Lila Tanner of New Madrid.

He was preceded in death by eight siblings and two grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Forrestal in Vietnam and received the following awards, The Purple Heart, The Bronze Star, Distinguished Service Oak Leaf, Joints Chiefs Service Award and the Presidential Unit Citation.
