Dwayne Lee Whitworth
Dwayne Lee Whitworth, New Madrid, MO-Dwayne Lee Whitworth was born September 20, 1966 in St. Louis, MO to Donna and David Whitworth. Dwayne went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was united in marriage on November 2, 2012 in Marston, MO to Donna Sue Whitworth. Dwayne was a pillar of the community. He dedicated his life to serving others. He began his law enforcement career in 1996 working with Cape County and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2013. His career led him to serve the community of Marston where he was a patrol officer for several years before deciding to serve the community of New Madrid. Taking a brief break in law enforcement, Dwayne worked for the New Madrid Children’s Division before taking the position as Chief of Police of Matthews, MO until his retirement in 2020. He also served his country by serving a tour in the army and a tour in the Navy. Dwayne loved substituting throughout the New Madrid County School District. Dwayne cofounded “Shop with a Cop” for the New Madrid Police Department and headed the Thanksgiving Dinner. He sat on the Board of Directors for N.M.H.A. and the FRC. Dwayne loved children which led him to become a foster parent to over 60 children. In his spare time, Dwayne loved camping, fishing, grilling, and spending time with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Donna and David Whitworth; brother-in-law, Joey Ross, and aunt; Veronica Mann.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, of New Madrid, MO., Brittany (Ja-Keem) Forester of Park Hills, MO; Eric Seitz of South Carolina; Angel (John) Harless of Sikeston, MO; Savannah (Davis) Aters of East Prairie, MO; Donna Leanne Whitworth of Portageville, MO; Leland Wayne Whitworth of New Madrid, MO; Billie (Justin) Sindorf of Oran, MO; Kandi Gamblin of Portageville, MO, and Dennis Jonathan Gamblin of Portageville, MO. Also survived by brothers: David (April) Whitworth of Jackson, MO; Carl (Tina) Whitworth of Woodward, OK and Angie Ross of Sikeston, MO; Sheila (Jerry) Miles of Fredericktown, MO; Sharon (Brad) Burns of Bonne Terre, MO. 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Services will be held at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, MO on Thursday, July 15. Visitation: 11a.m.-1:00p.m. Funeral: 1:00p.m.
