Dorothy Glodine Householder Fowler passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2022.
She was born to Robert and Lue Householder on March 15, 1924. She married her childhood sweetheart, Coy Fowler on Oct. 17, 1942. They had four children, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Gary (Linda) Fowler of New Madrid, Coyetta Sue (Brad) Blankenship of Marion, Arkansas, Sharon Bowen of Sikeston.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Coy; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Joyce Fowler; son-in-law, Tom Bowen; and great-granddaughter, Aryonna Clark.
She is also survived by a sister, Judy Cook of Sikeston. She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
Dorothy attended Dawson High School, New Madrid High School and Cape Girardeau State Teachers College. During World War II, she and Coy moved to St. Louis and worked in an ammunition plant. When the war ended, they returned to Southeast Missouri and began farming. She was later a teacher at LaForge School and a substitute teacher at Barnes Ridge School. Dorothy and Coy attended First Baptist Church of Lilbourn, Missouri, where she was a teacher, youth director and Bible School director.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 with the Rev. Allen Nichols, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lilbourn, officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Rodney Fowler, Brian Fowler, Jason Essary, Darin Essary, Christopher Clark and Brandon Clark.
