Cyrus B. Porter, 99, of New Madrid, passed away December 12, 2019 at the New Madrid Living Center in New Madrid.
He was born November 29, 1920 at Higgersons Landing in New Madrid County, to the late William Addison and Mattie Alice Cobb Porter. On November 29, 1947, in the Catholic Church, he married Harriet Shy Porter, who preceded him in death on April 6, 2019. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served in the 89th Infantry Division during World War II from 1943-1945.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by; one daughter, Kay Kirk, one grandson, Daniel Curtis Porter, one sister and four brothers.
Survivors include, four sons, Michael Porter of Poplar Bluff, MO., Joe Porter of New Madrid, Erwin Porter of Cape Girardeau and Edward (wife, Vickie) Porter of New Madrid, four daughters, Carolyn (husband, Jerry) Allred of Bowling Green, Ky., Patty Frye of New Madrid, Anita (husband, John) Hunter of St. Louis, Lynette (husband, Timmy) Fowler of New Madrid, one sister, Ann (husband, Loyne) Simpson of Lilbourn, one son-in-law Sonny Kirk of Jackson, MO., 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granchildren.
