Cynthia "Cindi" Jones Obituary

Cynthia “Cindi” Jane (Phillips) Jones, 65, of New Madrid, known to many as Ms. Cindi, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sikeston, MO on January 6, 1955. Cindi was preceded in death by her father, William Richard Phillips Jr. of New Madrid, and her son, Coleman Daniel Jones.

Cindi was the beloved wife of Anthony “Tony” Jones of New Madrid and mother of Stowe Jones (Ashleigh) of St. Louis. In addition, she is survived by her mother, Marjorie Phillips of New Madrid; her brother, William Richard Phillips III of New Madrid; her sister, Kathie Brune (Brad) of Cape Girardeau; sister-in-law, Francis Gould (Tim) of Cape Girardeau; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Brune (Shea) and children Adalia, Ellis, and Harrison of Cape Girardeau; Adam Davis (Andrea) and children Hudson and Hayden of Franklin, TN; Allison Evans (Charles) and child, Cece Rose of Cape Giradeau; Matthew Davis (Megan) and children Grady and Rylann of Cape Girardeau; and  Carly, Lexi, and Maddie Phillips of New Madrid, one great-nephew, Jagger Beck Malley of New Madrid, MO. She was a very special life-long friend to a number of other loving relatives and close friends.

She attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated as valedictorian from New Madrid High School in 1973. An avid learner, Cindi attended Southeast Missouri State graduating with her bachelors in 1977 and her masters in 1978. An educator and Director of Special Education for New Madrid County School District for 40 years, Cindi touched countless lives through her passion for teaching and advocating for children.

Cindi had an unfailing loyalty to her family and friends and was the most kind, caring, and loving woman. She had a special gift and infectious laughter that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a quiet strength and will be remembered as a selfless daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend who always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family and friends.

Visitation will be at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with rosary at 7:00 p.m, face masks required. A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in New Madrid on Friday at 5 p.m. with social distancing required. Burial including a eulogy and celebration of life will follow at Evergreen Cemetery at 7 p.m. in New Madrid. Friends are encouraged to attend the burial service, in lieu of the funeral, in respect of social distancing practices for the health and safety of all.

 
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or Immaculate Conception School in New Madrid in honor of Cindi Jones.
