Betty Jean Avery 91, of Malden, Mo peacefully passed into her eternal rest on Monday, August 10, 2020 at home with her family.
She was born November 3, 1928 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Osa and Myrtle (Land) Strange.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She worked as a waitress in Rockford, Il for many years until she married Manley and moved to Florida.
Betty was a member of New Beginnings Church in East Prairie, Mo.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen (J.C.) Layton. Two granddaughters, Betty Jean (Jeannie) and John Smith, and Patricia Ann (Patty) and Rikk Gates. Seven great grandchildren, Shandi LaRue of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jordan(Jen) Smith of Granite city, Il, and Mariah and Mikayla Smith of Mascoutah, Il. Coty Robinson and fiancé Kelly of Malden, Mo. Taylor (Raymond) Creasy of Fort Walton Beach, Fl. And Danielle Davis and Travis of Malden, Mo. Her great great grandchildren are Camron, Raymond, Brantley, and Maverick., Byker, Gunner, Ryder, and Travis, and one sister Patsy Thielmier of Pocahontas, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Manley Avery, 2 daughters, Phyllis Ray Taylor, and Hazel Johnson. Brothers Osa Strange Jr, Martin Ray Strange, and William Strange. Sisters Sadie Williams, Shirley Johnson, Barbra Lones, and Mildred Johnson.
Her Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Location: New Beginnings Church 209 Powers Street East Prairie, Mo.
