Alberta Lee Grant

Alberta Lee Grant was born on February 26, 1944. She 

was the sixth of nine children born to Joe and Albirda 

Grant in New Madrid, MO. She departed this life on 

Monday, August 30th, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center 

in Cape Girardeau, MO at the young age of 77.

She confessed hope in Christ and was affiliated with the 

Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of New Madrid, 

MO. “Ms. Bert” as she was known to many was well known 

in the community.

Preceding her in death was one son, Rickey E. Beasley; 

two brothers, Joshua Grant and Joe Lee Grant, Jr; three 

sisters, Annie Grant, Ora Thornton, and Ruth Brown; 

and also her loving parents, Joe and Albirda Grant.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, 

Deborah Grant; two sons, Glen (Marie) Beasley and 

Craig (Sandra) Beasley, all of New Madrid, MO; two 

sisters, Doris Grant, of New Madrid, MO and Minnie 

Grant-Taylor, of Chicago, IL; two brothers; Nathaniel 

Grant, of New Madrid, MO and Albert (Dorothy) Grant 

of Chicago, IL. She was also survived by 18 

grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 1 great-great 

grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
