Roger Brooks 69, of Matthews, Missouri passed away March 8, 2018 at Southeast hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 5, 1948 in Kennett, Missouri to the late; Lucille Hale Summerfield and Robert "R.C" Brooks. Roger was a member of the American Legion Post #595 of New Madrid. He was a member of the VFW of Lilbourn, Eagles Aerie #4207 in New Madrid and a member of the Big Prairie Jaycees of Matthews. He was a retired foreman for the Laborers Local Union #1104, where he worked for over 40 years. He served in the US Army from April 23, 1968-January 22, 1970. He was married to Sherry Bell on June 1, 2003.
Roger had a passion for collecting coins, and loved bright and beautiful Jewelry, as he called it. He enjoyed collecting antiques, his farm, raising chickens and taking care of his horses and hogs. He was always willing to lend a hand. He had a huge heart and was just one of a kind. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; one brother, Ricky Brooks, one niece and nephew, Trina and Ricky J. Brooks and one great nephew, Byron Loomes.
In addition to Sherry, he is also survived by; four daughters and one son, Shelley Berberich of East Prairie, Danielle and Tony Mitchell of Portland, TN., Melissa Horton of Sebring, FL., Shannon and Robert Hinkle of East Prairie and Roger Brooks of Matthews, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherry and Roy Russel, and Kim and Leroy Blasingain all of East Prairie, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers; Hayden Dawson, Bill Rodman, Roy Russell, Tony Jones, Robert Hinkle and Don Hart.
Honorary Pallbearers; Larry Polk, Grady Williford and Ricky Huff.
Randy Eskew will officiate with burial to follow at Dogwood Cemetery.
