J.R. Blankenship, 75, of Kewanee, MO., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 16, 2019 at his home. He was born March 26, 1944 in Sikeston, MO., the son of the late Jay and Weba Blankenship.
J.R. was a farmer until he was forced to retire due to health reasons in 2009. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with many friends, but most of all he loved and enjoyed being with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. J.R. was a member of the Kewanee Methodist Church, where he held many offices. When the church closed, he moved his membership to the New Madrid Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife Judy Blankenship, of the home, one sister, Lura Jones of Kewanee, one son, Jay (wife, Lori) Blankenship of Sikeston, MO., one daughter, Tonja (husband, Danny) Feingold of Tenafly, New Jersey.
J.R. was known as Poppy to five grandchildren, Claire Blankenship of Shelbina, MO., Judah LaValle of Philadelphia, PA., Ethan Feingold, a student at Villa Nova University, Noa Feingold, a student at NYU, and Lily Feingold of the home and great-grandchildren, Mason and Aaleigha Milbourn of Shelbina, MO.
J.R. was known for his kindness and generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He was loved by all who knew him. J.R.'s kindness touched many during his lifetime and he will be greatly missed by everyone.
Officiating Pastor is Bob McQueen and burial is going to be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
