George R. "Bud" Hartwell

George R. "Bud" Hartwell, 100, of New Madrid, MO., passed away September 13, 2019 at the New Madrid Nursing Center, in New Madrid.

He was born September 17, 1918 in Hayti, MO., to the late Edker and Jewell Scott Hartwell.  He was married to Cleona Weeks Hartwell, who preceded him in death.  He was later married to Mildred Halford, who preceded him in death in 2011. He was a WWII Veteran and served in the Army Air Force.  He was a successful businessman in the community, having owned a gas company, furniture store and rental property.  He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in New Madrid.

In addition to his wives and parents, he was also preceded in death by: one son, Michael Harwell and four sisters.

Survivors include: stepdaughter and husband, Paula and Rick Neal of New Madrid, one stepson and wife, Neal and Sheila Halford of Risco, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
