Phillip “Moon” Carter passed away July 16, 2016, at his home in New Madrid at the age of 60 years.
He was born Aug. 14, 1955, in Gideon, to the late Robert Milton and Mamie Joyce Holt Carter.
On May 22, 1981, he was married to Mary Kay Perry, who survives of the home.
He was employed by Associated Electric for 32 years. A former T-ball commissioner and school board member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School in New Madrid, he was an Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 595 in New Madrid and New Madrid Eagles Aerie 4206.
Survivors include: one son, Matt Carter of New Madrid; one daughter, Laura Carter of New Madrid; two brothers, Robert Carter and Gary Carter of Lilbourn; and one grandson, Lucas Kyle Higgerson of New Madrid.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Glenda Sue Carter, Phyllis Boulton, Shirley Williams, Gail Presnell, Louise Harp and Patricia Faye Carter; and two brothers, Milton Ray Carter and Ronnie “Buddy” Carter.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church in New Madrid with the Rev. Daniel Robles officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
