Judith Ann “Judy” Broughton passed away Aug. 9, 2015, at her home in New Madrid at the age of 69 years.
She was born July 26, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, to the late Roy and Camille Leonburger Smith.
On Oct. 19, 1968, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid, she was married to Joe Broughton, who survives of the home.
She was a teacher in the R-1 School District, New Madrid, until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jennifer Ellen Scott of Murray, Ky.; two granddaughters, Jo Beth Scott and Emily Louise Scott of Murray; one brother, James “Joe Bill” Smith of Little Rock, Ark.; and her beloved friend, Martha Mainord.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid. The Rev. Jarek Skrzypek will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.
