Harold Higgerson Jr., 77, passed away May 11, 2016, at his home in Swartz Creek.
Born Sept. 29, 1938, in New Madrid County, Mo., to the late Harold and Lula B. Keene Higgerson, he moved to Flint at the age of 14. After three years in the Air Force, he married Glenda R. Henry, who serves of the home. They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Harold spent 30 years working as a journeyman electrician at the Grand Blanc Tank Plant in Michigan. He was a member of UAW Local 1292 and American Legion Post 595 and Masonic Lodge 108 AF&AM both in New Madrid.
Harold enjoyed many years of bowling and competed in many tournaments, winning the All Events Championship honors in the 1969 Flint City Tournament. Many of his retirement years were spent hunting and fishing with friends and family.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Jill Higgerson III and Thomas W. and Sally Higgerson of Michigan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia D. and Don Gairhan and Michelle R. and Joseph Wamsley of Michigan; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his favorite buddy, his dog, Joe Joe.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Higgerson; and three sisters, Freda LeGrand, Verla Wheeler and Emma Coburn.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. Monday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.
Burial with full military rites will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
